3four50.com

A woman named Ana Gomes who checked out our video on youtube.com contacted me and told me about the website she works for called 3four50.com that is trying to raise awareness of chronic diseases, also called lifestyle diseases.

I was really inspired by the 3four50.com website because it is attempting to use ever popular social networking to raise awareness about preventing chronic disease. Here’s what the name 3four50 stands for:

3 risk factors - tobacco, poor diet, lack of physical activity -contribute to the

four major chronic diseases - heart disease, type 2 diabetes, lung disease, and cancers - which are responsible for more than

50 percent of deaths in the world

As Ana told me in her message: “At the moment we have a photos and blogs section but are soon launching a video library channel for videos on chronic diseases. Videos from different organisations and individuals will be up there for anyone to watch.”

This kind of a website demonstrates the innovation that is coming into the public health world as practitioners become more technologically savvy and find new ways to use multimedia, social networking and social marketing.
