I really agree with this blogger’s perspective on Walmart’s move into organic food. This really signifies that the end of the modern organic food system as an alternative has arrived. “Industrial organic”, as Michael Pollan, author of the new book “Omnivore’s Delimma”, is the wave of the future as organic agriculture and food production moves increasingly towards mass production. Ironically, with organic agriculture reaching new levels of scale and output, we’re once again caught in the quandry of whether we want cheaper food prices at the expense of our environment. Now we must again reinvent the organic food movement and reclaim it from corporations that are turning organic into just another market segment. Organic is not just a sales gimmic, it’s a way of life.
